For over 100 years, the House of Windsor has “ruled” over the United Kingdom. Despite not having much political power, they are immensely influential figures both within the United Kingdom, and throughout the rest of the world. With the world becoming more and more connected as technology advances, the royal family is thrust further into the spotlight than ever before, along with their discrepancies and grudges.
For the past few years, tensions between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the entirety of the House of Windsor have escalated steadily. Last year, the couple took a step back from their duties in the family due to the alleged lack of help they received during Meghan’s pregnancy.
In an interview with CBS, Meghan said “We were saying, OK, if this isn’t working for everyone, we’re in a lot of pain, you can’t provide us with the help that we need, we can just take a step back. We can do it in a commonwealth country… we suggested New Zealand, South Africa.” After moving to Canada, issues with Harry and his father Prince Charles arose, escalating to the point where Prince Charles would reportedly not take his phone calls. On April 9th of this year, Prince Philip passed away due to old age, according to the head of the royal medical household.
In an interview with Oprah, Meghan revealed that she had a lot of suicidal thoughts, and faced a lot of racism in regards to the color of her child’s skin.
The Royal Family has been the subject of the news outlets and public attention for decades, and as this story continues to unfold, the ever-expanding drama within the household will only become more interesting as time goes on.
