Goodbye to these retiring foothill staff members

Mr. Miner: Mr. Miner is Foothill’s auto-shop teacher. He is retiring at the end of this year, I asked him why he is retiring and he said so he can surf and travel.  He has been teaching at Foothill for nine years but, in total he has been teaching for 32 years. I asked him if there’s anything he can tell Foothill students and he said  “keep the high standards”. The last question I asked him what his favorite memory was here at Foothill and he said, “without being ridiculous the first year he was introduced at the welcome back assembly”. Staff and students here at Foothill will be sad to see him go, but one thing Mr. Miner would like Foothill Knights to keep in mind is that students can do anything if they put their minds to it. Mrs. Hagstrom: After 17 long years of hard work at Foothill, Mrs. Hagstrom will be retiring. Mrs. Hagstrom has dedicated most of her life to teaching the importance of physical education. Mrs. Hagstrom plans to continue working out and healthy eating on a daily basis. She wants all students to keep in mind how important it is to stay healthy. Now that she will no longer be a full time teacher, she will be traveling to exotic destinations, enjoying her family, and being a full time grandma to her beautiful grandkids. Mrs. Hagstrom wants to thank us, Foothill knights, for welcoming her and allowing her to work at a wonder place for her last years of educating. Mr. Marcigliano: After 25 years of teaching, Special Ed teacher Don Marcigliano is retiring. While he is retiring from teaching, Marcigliano will remain the Freshman Baseball coach for Foothill. “Most of the great memories I’ve had are on the baseball field: Winning league three years in a row as a freshman coach, and beating El Modena to win the league championship this year.” When asked what piece of advice he would give a new teacher from his experience Marcigliano had this to say: “A piece of advice I would give a teacher is, don’t get frustrated. The time goes fast. The staff here is wonderful. There is always someone to help you in your times of need.” Mr. Marcigliano will truly be missed by all those who had the honor to work with him.
