With case numbers declining across California as a result of vaccinations and public compliance with mask mandates, movie theaters have begun to reopen. Recognizing this, filmmakers have announced release dates for some big summer movies:

A Quiet Place Part II, May 28th: Coming out later this month, this horror film offers a modern take on the silent film. Evelyn Abbott (Emily Blunt),  Emmett (Cillian Murphy), and Reagan Abbott (Millicent Simmonds) look to survive in round two against blind monsters that have a sharp sense of hearing.

Black Widow; July 6: Although Marvel has been entertaining fans with TV shows such as the philosophical Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the family-oriented WandaVision, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been quiet ever since the release of Spiderman: Far From Home. That all changes this summer, when Black Widow’s Russian past is explored in July. After the USSR is dismantled, the former KGB agent is hunted by the new government, who seeks to erase all traces of its Soviet past.

The Beatles: Get Back; August 27th: Utilizing remastered footage from the 1970s, critically acclaimed filmmaker Peter Jackson, with the help of the surviving Beatles captures the magic that went into producing the incredibly popular Beatles album, Get Back. The movie will include the full performance of the famous rooftop concert, and the documentary will even include unreleased songs that did not make it to the original album. The film will debut on Disney Plus.
