CAASPP Testing Information

CAASPP testing will be taking place over the course of the next two weeks. Mondays and Thursdays will be A days, and Tuesdays and Fridays will be B days. Established in 2014, the CAASPP tests are designed to gauge students’ understanding of English, math, and science, as well as their ability to write clearly, think critically, and problem solve. Beginning this year, CAASPP test scores will replace placement tests for CSU’s and California community colleges. According to assistant principal Dr. Green, CAASPP
scores will also be available to state universities and private schools, although whether they take the scores into consideration depends on the school. As of last year, the California average for students that met or exceeded the standard in math was 39% and 50% in English. Foothill had 50% of students meet or exceed the overall standard, compared to Tustin’s 29%, while Beckman maintained the lead in our District with 64%. However, Foothill had 79% of students meet or exceed the English standard compared to Beckman’s 80%, proving that with a little hard work and dedication, we could easily surpass Beckman in our ELA scores.
Nonetheless, our ELA performance in the California Accountability System is the best in the District, unrivaled by Beckman or Tustin. However, these could change in an instant, so remember to study and prepare ahead of time. In preparation for the CAASPP, students should make sure they get a good night’s sleep, eat a good breakfast, and bring earbuds. If you bring your own device, remember to download the browser ahead of time. And remember, Knights: Nothing is better than bragging to Tustin and Beckman that we’re the best.
