1. When choosing a costume, be practical
Whatever you’re doing to enjoy this haunting holiday, make sure you pick a costume that is practical and comfortable.
2. Always have your phone charged and on you at all time
We all forget to plug our phones in. Make a reminder for yourself a few hours before you go out, to help you make sure to plug your phone in. In the event of an emergency, you will need to have someway to call for help.
3. Pay attention to your surroundings
If you are planning on trick-or-treating this year, make sure you know where you are at all times. If you feel like someone is following you, try approaching someone with children and explaining your situation: they most likely will be willing to help you.
4. Stay with friends
It’s harder for someone to do something if you’re in a group. Always have a buddy with you, even if you’re just going to the restroom. Remember, there is safety in numbers.
5. Never take/eat open candies or treats
Always be sure to check your candy to make sure it isn’t open. Unfortunately people can tamper with treats before they distribute them to children on Halloween.
6. Use common sense
If something doesn’t feel right or you know that what is happening shouldn’t be, take yourself out of the situation.
Happy Halloween!
