Foothill Students Work the Runway

By Glinka Alvarado

Foothill’s Fashion Design class participated in a competitive fashion show held at Saddleback College last month. Foothill was one of two high schools asked to participate, and out of the 50 Foothill students that attended the event, 30 competed.

Students have been working hard all year designing and their unique creations in class.

Both beginner and advanced students were able to showcase garments that they had created and submit them in one of the three categories: evening wear, fantasy wear and recycled garments.

Even the students who did not have garments in the show were able to compete, because there was also a fashion illustrations category for aspiring fashion designers. Foothill won first place in three categories and second place in the recycled garment category.

One Saddleback professor of fashion merchandising stated “We just went through your student’s garments, and they are just fabulous!”

It was an excellent day for all of the talented fashion design students.
